White Water Rafting Summit  $400: Ages 14–17 (Limit 10)

SUMMIT - Whitewater RAPIDSFive days - three world class rivers - and adrenalin pumping action in the spectacular North Cascades.

Enjoy a North Cascades' classic. Propelled by melting ice from nearby Glacier Peak, the Suiattle River falls through a lush forest surrounded by tall, snow-capped mountains. There are many class III rapids in a 13-mi run that drops 420 feet.

Few paddlers have the privilege to raft between the White Chuck River and the historic mining and timber town of Darrington.  Thrilling whitewater is arrayed for maximum drama and excitement.  Rapids on the Sauk River include Popeye, Alligator, and the famous Jaws.

Enjoy terrific mountain scenrery as you paddle the beautiful, clean, green water of the Skagit River. We will journey and enjoy many small rapids along the way - and encounter the famous Shovel Spur rapids, where the Skagit plunges through an S-turn with huge waves and holes. The ultimate in river adventure!

Led by certified and licensed river guides - all river equipment including Pro-Tec helmets will be provided.

REQUIREMENT(S):  This camp will require a high level of physical activity.

(1.) Participants should be in excellent physical condition.
(2.) Participants should know how to swim.
(3.)
North Cascade River Expeditions requires that a RELEASE FORM (click on "RELEASE FORM" to download) be completed prior to attending this camp session.  Please read this document CAREFULLY and then sign and return it to our office.  Participants will not be permitted to participate in the whitewater expedition without a signed Release form, there will be no exceptions.
(4.)  Wetsuits will be provided - however, we will need to know the camper's size prior to the camp session.  Please contact our office with this important information.

SUMMIT - Whitewater 2007 summit groupDRESSING FOR COMFORT AND SAFETY ON A WHITEWATER TRIP:

On all whitewater expeditions you are required to wear a "farmer john" wetsuit (will be provided).  Your wetsuit should be worn over a bathing suit.  Your wetsuit becomes your first layer of clothing.

Because your wetsuit does not cover your arms and shoulders you need to bring additional clothing to wear over your wetsuit.  On very warm days, just wear a t-shirt over your wetsuit to protect your arms and shoulders from sunburn.  Please bring a good waterproof sunblock.

We suggest you do not wear cotton t-shirts, flannel shirts, or cotton sweatshirts.  Cotton soaks up water and provides no insulation when wet.

For colder days, you should wear a paddling jacket.  This can be a nylon windbreaker, a rain jacket, a mountain parka, or a *specially manufactured paddling jacket (*optional - not required).  The purpose of the paddling jacket is to shed water and keep your insulation dry.  On those cooler days, a paddling jacket is the most important layer of clothing after your wetsuit.

DON'T bring your good camera ... pick up a waterproof version of a throw away model.

Location: Rockport, WA
