Horsemanship

Welcome to the Sunset Lake Horsemanship Program! We offer a wide variety of programs including riding lessons, classes, trail rides, arena rides, workshops and more. We have a 100′ by 200′ outdoor arena, 50′ round pen, covered seating areas, and miles of trails. We have hand-picked our horses to be kind and gentle around adults and children, while also having the training of an arena horse. With our herd of 16 horses, you are sure to find a perfect fit! Our Horsemanship Director, Moriah Heintz, is trained and certified as the highest level of instructor through Equestrian Management Workshops–a nationally accredited equestrian organization (http://www.eqmw.com). We have many different horses who have been trained at different levels and disciplines–from reining to western pleasure to dressage to trails–so there is truly something for everyone! We provide the transportation, horses, boots, helmets, and instruction. We will progress through at least two levels of the nationally accredited Equestrian Management Workshops (http://eqmw.com/). Our instructors are trained and certified through the EMW program, and our Director, Moriah Candler, is certified to the highest level of instructor as well as having over 15 years of experience. Students earn high school credit for this class (as a quarter class, 2.5 credits), as well as a certification in the Equestrian Management Workshops’ program. The cost will be $350 and will include transportation to and from the camp, horses, all instruction and materials. This class is open to all Auburn Academy students and eighth-graders that will attend Auburn the following year.
