Camper Scholarship Assistance
Program (SAP)
At Sunset Lake we believe that no child should be turned away due to financial need. Our camp scholarship fund is available to families facing financial stress. We greatly appreciate those who make this fund possible through their generous donations.
Objective
Our Camper Scholarship Assistance Program (SAP) offers children the opportunity to attend Sunset Lake Camp that would not be able to because of lack of funds.
The SAP Fund is targeted to those who have an individual request, but is not limited to one per family. |

Application Process
Scholarship Guidelines and a 2009 Scholarship Request Form can be sent upon request or downloaded directly from this website. To obtain a form from this website, scroll over the words "Scholarship Guidelines" and "Scholarship Request Form" and click, the documents will download onto your computer.
The parent/guardian must review the Scholarship Guidelines to determine whether their camper is eligible. If the camper is eligible, the Scholarship Request Form should be submitted in writing to the Sunset Lake Camp office for review, along with a letter of recommendation from your church pastor or one of your child's teachers. (It should come from someone who knows your family on a personal basis and should be written on the appropriate letterhead.)
Once the application(s) is reviewed, the parent/guardian will be notified of the decision. If accepted, a Camper Registration form must be completed and returned to the Camp Registrar along with the $50 non-refundable registration fee. Applications will be approved as funds are available.
Please understand that scholarship funds are limited, therefore scholarships are awarded on a first come, first served basis. Because of our limited scholarship funds, we ask that families and campers contribute as much as possible to their camp tuition. Start saving for camp today!
Scholarship Guidelines
Eligibility for Scholarship
1. Evidence of lack of funds. Please include an explanation and a letter of recommendation from your church pastor or child's teacher.
2. Applicant Age: Youth camp age, as specified in each camp session.
Types of Scholarship
Sunset Lake Camp bases its decision to grant a partial or a full scholarship based on the need. Other factors may be involved; therefore, each request is considered individually.
1. Full Scholarship: The non-refundable registration fee ($50) and any optional items (i.e. camp store, camper photo, camper video or DVD) are the responsibility of the camper. The balance of the camp fee is paid by the SAP fund.
2. Partial Scholarship: The non-refundable registration fee ($50) and any optional items (i.e. camp store, camper photo, camper video or DVD), and the balance of the camp fee not covered by the SAP fund are the responsibility of the camper.
Restrictions
1. The Camper Scholarship is issued for one week of camp per person. This does not include the $50 non-refundable registration fee.
2. Scholarships awarded may be applied towards any week of camp, excluding Family Camp.
3. The SAP funds will be awarded to an individual for a maximum of two consecutive years. Campers who have received the scholarship for two years and would still like to apply would be reviewed for scholarship only on an "as funds are available status." This is enforced to be fair and to afford as many campers as possible the opportunity to go to camp.
4. The SAP Fund cannot be used with any other discounts offered.
Sunset Lake Camp reserves the right to forfeit a scholarship for the following reasons:
1. Misrepresentation - A parent / guardian who intentionally misrepresents conditions or circumstances claiming a financial need, and Sunset Lake Camp becomes aware that a need does not, in fact, exist.
2. No response - A parent / guardian is required to return the registration form within 21 days of being notified that they were granted a scholarship. If not returned within the required timeframe, the scholarship will be awarded to another eligible camper.
